The appointment followed the redeployment of Mustafa Kaura, the former director-general, to the office of the SSG.
Mr Hundeyin took over from Adekunle Ajisebutu who until yesterday was the spokesman for the command.
The governor also noted that a lack of unity among citizens undermines the capacity for sustainable development of the nation.
