The labour unions spoke on Monday during a protest at the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) office over the Band A tariff hike.
The Senate has called on organised labour to call off the ongoing strike in the interest of Nigerians.
“This is a safeguard to ensure that democracy thrives in Nigeria,” he said.
He also emphasised the need for the FG to provide more jobs by creating a productive economy where factories are functioning and employing workers.
“NLC and TUC will consider the offers by the federal government with a view to suspending the planned strike,” the information minister.
He, however, confirmed that the state government had already engaged the union’s leadership in dialogue.
He noted that the government has approved the payment of arrears of gratuity to retired civil servants from 1996 to 2021 with a cost implementation of N4.3 billion.

The strike, which is to begin on Wednesday, is to protest the removal of fuel subsidy and the escalating cost of living in the country.
The IGP charged officers to be vigilant and proactive in tackling security threats by “political and non-political actors.”
The community leader said Nigerians had endured so much hardship and that the strike would only inflict more pain on the masses.
