The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has given insight into a railway incident involving a passenger train operating on the Rigasa–Idu rail corridor.
The aircraft, en route from Kaduna to Port Harcourt, made an emergency landing at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport.
‎During the landing roll, the nose landing gear collapsed. All eight persons on board disembarked safely, with no injuries reported.
Mr Opeifa confirmed that the main line had been repaired to a safe level for operations, though work continues on the secondary track.
The wreckage of the helicopter was discovered in the high, mountainous desert.
While some heads of agencies in the sector were replaced, one was suspended and awaiting investigation by the EFCC.
“We have some preliminary steps we are taking as a ministry and regulators.’’
NSIB Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr James Odaudu, said there was no injury or fatality.
Though there were no injuries and fatalities recorded in the incident, the runway was closed “pending the towing of the aircraft from the runway.”
