Debating the bill, a senator argued that the move was due to the Nigerian polity’s chequered history of religious intolerance.
The senators said the extension of the budget period was to help complete ongoing projects.
“One of the options is to request or demand the National Assembly to consider.”
The bill provided appropriate penalties and expanded the scope of supervisory bodies to effectively implement anti-money laundering laws in Nigeria.
Mr Tinubu met with APC senate caucus on Wednesday.
The senators, however, approved the bill on independent candidacy with 89 senators voting yes and five no.
“Consequently, the CBN is opposed to the passage of the proposed bills for the repeal and re-enactment of the existing Money Laundering (Prevention) Act 2011.”
In addition to the existing ones, the new campuses bring the total number of law schools to 13, excluding that of the FCT.
“There are many tenants whose salaries are competing with their rents because they live in cities like Abuja. The law will prevent the poor workers from any form of oppression.”
The Nigerian Senate has passed 2022 Appropriation Bill of N17.126 trillion.
