Mr Ikenga stated that the operation was carried out by the commissioner of police’s special patrol team on December 16.
Mr Ikenga said the cult clash, which occurred in Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha-Awka Old Road on Sunday, resulted in the death of four persons.
The incident occurred at Polling Unit 005 in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area.
The suspect has been arrested and will soon be charged.
The police spokesman said the operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected criminal gang.
Mr Umeh said that after investigation and documentation, the case would be transferred to the police command in Awka.
The news of his death was made public by his colleague and friend, Mayor Ofoegbu, in a Facebook post on Thursday morning.
“We may resort to actions to reverse this ugly trend and safeguard our members.”
They said, by enforcing the sit-at-home order through fear and intimidation, IPOB had become the enemy of many Igbos.
