He said that Mr Soyinka had used his position and experience to contribute positively to literature, academics and governance globally.
The latest case centred on allegations that Ms Suu Kyi accepted 11.4 kg (402 oz) of gold and $600,000 from her protege-turned-accuser.
Mr Soyinka said the international community “has a right and responsibility to declare sections of the country as protectorate under the UN.”
