Peoples Gazette reported Ms Meranda’s much-expected decision followed President Bola Tinubu’s insistence that Mr Obasa be returned as the speaker.
Mr Obasa had alleged that he was unlawfully removed from his position on January 13 by 36 lawmakers while he was abroad.

Mr Tinubu said he had no business with them since the individuals were not there to carry out his order, Peoples Gazette was told.
The proposal presented to Mr Obasa includes removing Ms Meranda and appointing a neutral person as the new speaker if he accepts a senatorial ticket.
The speaker said the beneficiaries include directors and deputy directors.

Mr Obasa’s emergence as Speaker of the 10th Assembly on Tuesday, followed his unanimous election by the 40 members in the House.
The group wants President Tinubu to give necessary backing to financial crimes agencies to perform their duties unhindered.
Mr Obasa and other loyalists of Bola Tinubu have embarked on Mecca to pray for the APC national leader’s presidential ambition.
