Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa and other loyalists of presidential aspirant Bola Tinubu have embarked on a holy trip to Mecca to pray for the success of the APC national leader’s presidential bid.

“We have come to seek the favour of Allah and his blessings for Asiwaju in the coming election. We are not testing Allah’s will and power but soliciting for his blessings, support and anointing,” the speaker said in a statement released by his press secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele.

The statement disclosed the prayer session scheduled to be held in Mecca on Thursday would be attended by notable Islamic scholars and political leaders from Nigeria.

Tagged ‘Special Tawaf for Asiwaju’, the session will commence by 12:00 p.m. and will be conducted around Kaabah at the “centre of Islam’s most important mosque, the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia,” adding that “participants are to wear the ihram attire and congregate at the King Abdulaziz Gate,” said the statement.

Mr Obasa stressed that he and the other loyalists “are doing this in support of Asiwaju’s” presidential ambition.

“Having consulted widely and across the country, we strongly believe that every other thing required for the success of the election and victory for Asiwaju are in the hand of Almighty Allah,” Mr Obasa noted.

The Mecca trip came on the heels of the solicitation of funds from Mr Tinubu’s campaign group, who on Tuesday called on friends of the former Lagos governor to donate money to buy the APC presidential nomination form valued at N100 million.
