The group said the PDP faction, backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike, lacked the authority to suspend members in the state.
A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olabode George, has expressed concern over the exclusion of the PDP, African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Labour Party (LP)
Mr George urged leaders to protect democratic institutions, respect opposing views, and safeguard Nigerians’ welfare.
Mr Jonathan stated, “Your contributions to democratic development and national unity remain deeply appreciated.”
The president described Mr George as an elder brother and a respected Lagos indigene.
Mr Fintiri urged all party stakeholders to work towards healing the divisions within the party and to strive for unity and cohesion.
Mr George said, “This judgment will consume this country.”
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr George said, “If Papa is to be honoured, he must be honoured independently.”
Mr George said members were free to defect to other parties, vowing that he would never join the bandwagon of those leaving.
Mr George called on the party’s NWC to avert a possible crisis ahead of the ward and local government congresses of the PDP in Lagos.
