The general manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
He expressed satisfaction that no complaints had been recorded against the conduct of LASTMA personnel.
“The remains of the deceased were deposited at the FMC morgue, pending formal identification by their bereaved families,” he said.
The statement stated that the responders collectively subdued the inferno and precluded its escalation into a greater tragedy.
Mr Bakare-Oki stressed the irreplaceable role of the media, as both architects of public consciousness and catalysts for societal transformation.
The general manager said that the driver of the Highlander died instantly.
Mr Bakare-Oki said the move was an assertion of its steadfast dedication to preserving public order.
Mr Bakare-Oki added that LASTMA has captured over 54,000 vehicles through the use of technology, specifically Traffic Management Solutions (TMS).
Mr Bakare-Oki noted that this initiative reflects global best practices in advanced traffic psychology.
Mr Bakare-Oki said officers from the Ogijo Police Division evacuated the victim and took her to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital mortuary in Sagamu.
