The awardees were seconded to the Armed Forces of Liberia at different times, as part of an ECOWAS Advisory Training Team.
An official said the overall effect of the strategy had resonated in public support for the Nigerian Army.
The terrorists met their waterloo on Saturday, after the army routed them in a failed incursion at a village in Borno.
“If their (insurgents) activities are denied media publicity, fifty percent of the military’s job would have been done.”
The army said they were working with the Oyo state command of the police to identify, locate and arrest the other soldiers.
“Troops recovered one AK 47 Rifle, a truck, two motorcycles, four empty magazines, and rounds of 7.62mm ammunition amongst others.”
The “gallant troops” recovered two AK 47 rifles, three magazines, one hand grenade and a teargas canister from the terrorists.
Mr Nwachukwu said that troops, in response to a distress call at about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, swiftly moved to the scene forcing the assailants to take to their heels.
“Over 37 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were neutralised, while several of them reportedly suffered varying degrees of injury,” the army said.
Army says heavily armed Biafran gunmen in several trucks opened fire on the troops’ location, but were met with stiff resistance by the troops.
