According to Mr Adeleye, the suspect was led into the forest, where the gang allegedly killed the APC chairman after collecting ransom from his family.
The police commissioner said that during the interrogation, the officers confirmed visiting the shop but were there to charge their mobile phones.
Ms Andrew said the vehicle driver and a woman who sat at the front were shot dead by the kidnappers.
She added that the victims were rescued and are currently in the hospital facility where they are receiving treatment.
