A former presidential aspirant, Patience Key, has resigned from the Peoples Redemption Party, stating that the party’s core values no longer resonated with her.
Ms Key stated that her decision to contest the election was to positively impact people’s lives.
She said that their confidence in her vision and capabilities was an honour and a call to action.
“This action, issued by U.S. State Department secretary Mr Antony Blinken, is intended to discourage future instances of such behaviour.”
Mr Abiola defeated three others at the party primary conducted across the states on Sunday.
She said her agenda was on unity and peace, education and wealth creation, youth transformation, human capacity and infrastructure development.
Three aspirants have so far purchased the forms for the presidential ticket of the party.
A direct effect of the war is the ongoing bilateral discussions with Russia on the resuscitation of the Ajaokuta steel mill.
