On May 31, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced pump price increment that saw petrol price skyrocket from N195 to over N500 nationwide.
The suspects were said to have been involved in illegal dealing in petroleum products, economic sabotage and hoarding.
The rest of the ships are carrying bulk salt, containers, bulk sugar, sulphur, bulk wheat, bulk urea, palm oleum and frozen fish.
The Nigerian Ports Authority listed the petroleum products as butane gas, petrol and automobile gasoline.
The expected items include bulk sugar, frozen fish, general cargo, bulk wheat and petrol.
“The leadership issue of IPMAN has been settled by a Supreme Court judgment delivered in Abuja on December 14, 2018,” said the IPMAN chair in Cross River.
The authority also said seven other ships had arrived at the ports waiting to berth with bulk wheat, frozen fish and petrol.
“Third-party forensic audit remittances for the year 2018, 2019 and 2020 are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.”
“It is a terrible crime capable of knocking engines when used by unsuspecting members of the public.”
