ECOWAS has called for increased investment in security to address states of emergency across West Africa amid rising military threats and political instability.
The minister said Nigeria was dedicated to advancing ECOWAS security agenda.
This followed Mr Bazoum’s appeal to the ECOWAS Court to free him from detention on Wednesday.
The announcement came despite widespread warning that an invasion could plunge sun-Sahara Africa into turmoil.
ECOWAS and the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research promised to fight against the illicit proliferation of weapons in the region.
