The commission’s president warned that terrorists were increasingly waging “economic warfare” by disrupting fuel supplies and trade routes.
Mr Touray noted that terrorism in any form remained a significant threat to regional integration.
Mr Touray said the ministers also approved the bloc’s trade and investment promotion strategy
Omar Touray has called on Turkey to step up its support to ECOWAS’s efforts toward curbing terrorism in West Africa.
President Bola Tinubu said the strength of the commission was in the unity of members.
Mr Douka stated, “We have reached a critical phase in the development of this project.’’
ECOWAS, backed by the U.S. and other Western allies, has threatened fire and brimstone to invade Niger.
ECOWAS has called for investment in conflict prevention in member states, putting its estimated cost at over $2.6 billion.
ECOWAS said it was identifying with Nigeria as a member state during the elections.
The authority reached the decision at the end of its February 2 virtual session chaired by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.
