Governor Caleb Mutfwang has asked RMAFC to resolve the contentious issue of stamp duties for Nigeria’s progress.
He commended the idea of a tax reform committee recently set up by President Bola Tinubu.
The RMAFC boss said information about salary increase for political office holders was not true, adding that their salaries were last reviewed in 2007.
“For 15 years, the salaries for the political, judicial and public officeholders have not been reviewed.”
The chairman said the commission reviewed the remuneration packages in the reports based on subjective and objective criteria.
Mr Ahmed said the government needed to put a palliative package together for Nigerians because that area was lacking.
“The economy of the world today does not depend on natural resources; countries are leveraging their natural resources to build their knowledge-based economy.”
Many judges were said not to have a home of their own after retirement because they are poorly paid while in active service.
“There is also the issue of underpayment of royalty by 25 enterprises that exported minerals in 2019 with no record of royalty payments,” RMAFC disclosed.
Mr Nwifuru had earlier been anointed choice successor by Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi.
