“The focus of the visa review is on ensuring proper vetting and credible information in the visa process, not on penalising Nigerians,” Mr Mills explained.
He said Nigeria will continue to have close collaboration and engagement with the U.S. for the benefit of the two nations.
The U.S. ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has announced that bilateral trade between the two countries has increased to approximately $13 billion since last year.
Mills said this at the official unveiling of a meeting of working groups of the U.S.–Nigeria Commercial and Investment Partnership on Tuesday in Abuja.
Mr Mills pledged to deepen the U.S. Mission’s broader commitment to public engagement in Nigeria.
He noted that Nigeria was already the United States’ second largest trade partner in Africa.
Mr Ighodalo of the PDP already vowed to appeal the tribunal ruling to re-examine his claims that the polls were rigged to favour Mr Okpebholo.
The governor commended the U.S for its continued support to Nigeria, particularly through USAID initiatives.
The ambassador highlighted the significance of MWFAAN’s decade-long journey.
