The All Progressives Congress on Monday in Abuja expressed appreciation to Rivers residents for their overwhelming support in Saturday’s local government elections.
Mr Ihunda also commended the security agencies for ensuring a smooth and hitch-free electoral process.
The former council chairpersons in Rivers who were sacked in 2015 under Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration have vowed to take over 23 LGAs.
“We disagree with the judgment. We must obey the court orders as a law-abiding government,” said the Rivers governor.
In a judgment delivered by Justice Jamilu Tukur, the court invalidated the election, stating that its conduct grossly violated the Electoral Act.
