The state house of assembly constituencies by-election is for Ahoada East and Khana in Rivers.
The PDP caretaker committee, backed by FCT minister Nyesom Wike, has pledged to deliver ”an all-inclusive convention that every member of the party will be happy with”.

Mr Worlu said political actors chose cooperation over division to sustain the goodwill Rivers has enjoyed under Mr Tinubu’s administration.
Mr Wike insisted that his supporters and loyalists remain resolute despite threats since the 2023 general elections.
Mr Wike said the visit was to thank residents for supporting Mr Tinubu in 2023 and to mobilise them for continued backing in the 2027 elections.
Mr Akawor demanded that If N40 billion was allocated across groups, Oyigbo must not be shortchanged.
His remarks followed Mr Wike’s warning asking the APC national secretary to steer clear of Rivers politics.
“We will get somebody we can trust, go home, and sleep with our eyes closed. Politics is about interest,” said Mr Wike.
Mr Otobo said, “We await instructions from you on the 2027 elections concerning Rivers State.”
