The armed robbers were said to have attacked a bus in an attempt to rob it, unknown to them that the passengers were undercover police officers.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the state anti-cult unit of the command, and allegedly had two locally-made cut-to-size guns and four live cartridges.
“They were court-martialled by the military authority before being transferred to the command for further investigation.”
The union said the increase in kidnapping on highways was due to motorists who pick passengers on roadsides and unauthorised motor parks.
The suspected armed robbers were arrested in Sapele and Oghara in different raids.
Other items recovered are one locally-made revolver pistol, one live ammunition of AK47 and two empty shells of AK47 rifle ammunition.
