The House of Representatives of the Philippines on Monday secured the required number of votes to impeach Philippine Vice-President Sara Duterte.
Mr Duterte was detained on Tuesday morning due to an arrest warrant issued by the ICC over his “war on drugs” campaign.
Mr Duterte’s lawyer said his client’s arrest was unlawful, partly because the Philippines withdrew from the court while the former president was in office.
Mr Duterte ordered the Philippines’ withdrawal from the ICC in March 2018.
There are suggestions the boxer could be warming up for a presidential run.
