The auditor-general for the federation, Shaakaa Chira, says public-sector auditing is imperative for strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.
The auditor-general for the federation has reiterated the importance of proper documentation and record-keeping for governance, accountability, and national development.
Mr Ogunjimi said that there was an urgent need to entrench accountability, fiscal prudence and efficiency in the management of public resources.
The auditor-general for the federation, Shaakaa Chira, says improved funding is necessary to make the office perform effectively.
The report, he said, also covered nine selected states Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Gombe, Imo, Kano, Nasarawa, Ondo and Rivers.
Mr Chira also scored the highest marks in the examination conducted for the office.
