The Nigerian Army wants its soldiers to have mental toughness in addition to being able to wield weapons amid the fight against insurgency.
According to the report, the plan is designed to lure the soldiers into an ambush where they will be killed and their weapons seized.
The army spokesperson noted that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects had allegedly resided in the state for about six months without valid immigration documents.
He said the terrorists launched the attack at about 3:00 a.m. amid poor weather conditions.
The chief of army staff’s welfare flight has airlifted a total of 332 military personnel in and out of the North-East theatre as part of routine troop rotation and welfare support.
The report said the suspect had previously benefited from an amnesty programme.
He added that access to decent housing was a critical component of troop welfare.
He urged the personnel to observe the occasion as a time for reflection on unity, loyalty and commitment to duty.
Mr Kangye stated that the criminals were handed over to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
