Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has accused the PDP of plotting to foment trouble ahead of the off-cycle November 16 governorship election.
A statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said he arrived in China at about 9:00 a.m. local time on Sunday and was received by top Chinese government officials.
“The president prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased,” Mr Ngelale said.
The party advised opposition parties in Edo to read the handwriting on the wall.
Mr Tinubu described Mr Bawa’s death as deeply disturbing.

The army spokesperson said that the truck was intercepted along a trunkline belonging to Seplat Energy Nigeria Limited.
The Ondo State APC described the PDP allegation as baseless and malicious.
Mr Baju served in the Senate during the Third Republic and was the President’s colleague in the Red Chamber.
The NSCDC commander said vandalism by miscreants, who planned to capitalise on the peaceful protest to destroy critical national assets, would be resisted.
