The Church was reopened for Easter service as a mark of honour to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
St Francis Catholic Church is located in Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s hometown of Owo.
“I can assure you, however, that we are on top of the situation, and in the shortest possible time, all these challenges will become a thing of the past,” the minister said.
According to Ms Ademola-Olateju, the number of fatalities has risen to 41 while 17 persons are still in the hospital.
The review would give the Amotekun corps power to have access to improved technology and more sophisticated weapons.
“We have failed to defend these people. Not because we have not tried but because these forces on the other side are evil and they have support.”
The figures were released on Friday at the funeral service for the deceased of the Owo massacre.
“The extension was sequel to the resolution of the South-West Governors’ Forum to observe a three-day mourning period, starting from Monday to Wednesday.”
The funeral, was announced in a pamphlet, circulated by the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, on Sunday evening.
Peoples Gazette learnt that the farmers were returning home to the Akoko area, a few hours’ journeys from their farm when the bandits waylaid and kidnapped them.
