Traders blamed a solar-powered electricity inverter for the incident.
The controller said that apart from containing the disasters, the command also saved lives and property worth several billion naira.
The structural failure reportedly occurred at about 2:00 a.m., prompting an immediate emergency response.
Mr Abdullahi said those rescued had been taken to the ward head of Gargajiga town.
“The fire started at midnight last Sunday, and it took the State Fire Service personnel up to Monday morning before they could finally put it out.”
Reports said the inferno destroyed some documents and properties at the university.
The incident occurred on Monday morning, with the cause of the fire still under investigation.
The TRACE spokesman said the accident was caused by brake failure.
“We received a distress call from a police officer, Yahuza Muhammad, about the incident at about 2.05 p.m.”
