One dies as Kano well collapses

One person has died and two others rescued after a well collapsed in Gargajiga town, Minjibir Local Government Area, Kano State, on Thursday.
In a statement on Friday, spokesperson for the state Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the incident happened during the re-digging and repairing of the well.
The incident was said to have been reported by one Bashir Namadi, who made a distress call before the Kano State Fire Service took action.
“Three people were involved: one inside the well and two outside. The sides of the well gave way, causing it to collapse and burying all three individuals,” it said.
The Fire Service emergency rescue crew, upon arrival at about 12:20 p.m., “rescued two individuals alive, but unfortunately, one person, identified as Yusuf Nadabo, aged 50, was recovered unconscious and later pronounced dead.”
Mr Abdullahi said those rescued had been taken to the ward head of Gargajiga town.
