The police spokesperson said that the operation was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police to decisively combat crime in the country.
Mr Edafe described the incident on Ozoro as “very unfortunate.”
Ms John reiterated the police’s commitment to sustained intelligence-driven operations to combat drug-related crimes and other criminal activities.
Mr Ikenga said the suspects were arrested during an operation in Nando, Anambra East Local Government Area (LGA), on Friday.
Ms John said that preliminary investigations were underway to establish the suspect’s motive.
The PPRO explained that the suspects had been on the command’s wanted list for their involvement in several robbery operations across the state.
Mr Ikenga said preliminary information revealed that the initiation was part of their evil ceremony and grooming for election thuggery in Njikoka and Anaocha LGAs of the state.
The CP noted that criminals often exploit unregistered vehicles or covered number plates to perpetrate crimes, evade arrest, or disrupt the peace of the state.
Mr Ado warned that the command would not condone any form of jungle justice.
The PPRO said that the state CP commended the vigilance of the community members.
