The United States Consulate in Nigeria disclosed that it gave $1.02 million to civil organisations to implement projects across the 17 states in the South in 2021.
The 1,000 young Nigerians will be taught internet fact-checking and how to distinguish reality from fiction and opinion.
Organised by the U.S. consulate in Lagos, the workshop was led by instructors from the U.S. Global Air Drone Academy.
The Abeokuta Window on America, located at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, is the 13th in southern Nigeria.
The U.S. embassy official said this figure was because “Nigerians believe in strong education.”
The resource centre is designed to bring Americans and Nigerians closer together.
So far, the Consulate has launched 13 American Spaces in southern Nigeria.
“At present, we have over 14,000 Nigerian students studying in the U.S and we hope to grow that number and further strengthen the ties between both countries.”
“Young people are the strength of this nation. They will find a wealth of opportunities that could only be found at this space.”
