Justice minister Lateef Fagbemi has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke to suspend Saturday’s council polls.

The four appeals are the Rivers House of Assembly and others against the Rivers government and nine others.
The order is to take effect 30 days after the signing.
A 24-hour period is usually given to allow appeals to the Supreme Court and given that the cabinet would not normally meet until Saturday evening after the end of the Jewish day of rest.
The president-elect can fight the release all the way to the Supreme Court.
