She said that it would not enhance the ease of doing business and trading in Nigeria.
The defendant was arraigned before Justice Ayokunle Faji on a one-count charge bordering on the importation of 51.25 kg of Cannabis sativa, a.k.a. marijuana.
Mr Babadende commended the NDLEA for working assiduously to tackle drug abuse, trafficking and addiction in the country.
He said that the command secured the conviction of 57 suspects.
“Stop stigmatisation of people using drugs. Don’t call them addicts, but people having drug challenges so that they can get better,” he said.
He said members of the host community of the club complained that the club had been turned into a drug den.
The commander said the 5,610kg seized drugs included cannabis sativa, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, tramadol, and other psychotropic substances.
Mr Babafemi said that the suspect was arrested for concealing thirty-six (36) parcels of cocaine in different parts of his check-in bags, hand luggage and two pairs of slippers.
Others include 1000 tablets of Tramadol 200mg with a gross weight of 600 grams; 2, 300 capsules of Tramadol 100mg weighing 800 grams and 60 tablets of Rohypnol 1mg, weighing 19 grams.
The drugs were concealed in herbal tea packs and in vehicles imported from Brazil and Canada.
