A former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olisa Agbakoba, has drawn on the Constitution of South Africa to suggest ways to prevent governors from abusing state policing.
“These institutions should enjoy security of tenure; their funding should be a direct charge on the Consolidated Revenue Fund,” said Mr Agbakoba.

The appeal came during a state consultative meeting held on Monday in Lokoja.
The human rights commission said half of the 1,000 complaints were on sexual and gender violence against women and children.
