Nigeria is one of the 196 countries that has so far ratified the Child Rights Convention as of October 2015.
Mr Jalingo asserted the commission’s preparedness for the 2023 census and said that the NPC had prepared ground for the first-ever digital census in Nigeria.
The NPC federal commissioner in the state, Abubakar Danburam said the event was designed to sensitise stakeholders on the processes and methodology of the census.
According to him, the 2023 census will address the irregularities associated with previous exercises.
“We will deploy technology for the exercise so as to curtail chances of manipulation,” the commission insists.
NPC says it will engage no fewer than 26,000 ad hoc staff in Adamawa to conduct the 2023 housing and population census.
The National Population Commission has demarcated 3,230 localities to be included in the ‘Compendium of Localities’ for the success of the 2023 population and housing census.
Parents are advised to get a birth registration from the National Population Commission as a ‘passport of protection for their child’.
According to him, the number of the births registered by the commission represents 76 per cent of the newborn babies during the year.
The objective of the EAD was to bring the Enumeration Area (EA) maps up to date with the current realities, said an official.
