Two major electricity unions have suspended their planned nationwide strike following the intervention of the federal government.
Ndidi Mbah, spokeswoman for TCN, said in a statement on Friday that the body of the electrocuted vandal hanging on the tower has since been brought down.
Mr Sharifa state, “TCN reached out to ONSA for the protection of vulnerable transmission lines against vandalism.’’
Mr Tijjani quoted the commandant saying that the protection of TCN infrastructure remains a top national priority.
Mrs Mbah said that the maintenance would take effect on Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm.
Ms Mbah said, “This routine exercise aimed at servicing the transformer and associated switchgears to ensure continued reliable operation.’’
Mrs Mbah apologised for the inconveniences the maintenance could cause the affected electricity customers
The last system failure happened on January 11, after a total of 12 collapses in 2024 and over 100 times in 10 years.
”These incidents pose a significant challenge to TCN’S operations as a company, ” she said.
The committee issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the agencies to appear or risk withdrawal of funding for 2025 operations.
