Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action has trained members of the Lagos parole board on strengthening parole administration for effective justice delivery.
PRAWA has also helped those who have survived prison by successfully integrating them into the community.
The coalition said there was an urgent need to examine the root causes of jailbreaks and other related issues bedevilling the country’s custodial facilities.
PRAWA has called for reforms in the security and justice sectors to bring to account perpetrators of torture and rehabilitate victims.
The PRAWA executive director called on relevant stakeholders to support the National Committee against Torture to build a nation free of torture.
