Taylor Farms recalls jalapeño from Walmart, Kroner, others over suspected salmonella contamination

Taylor Farms has begun recalling foods and products containing jalapeños over concerns of salmonella contamination, a foodborne contagion that triggers diarrhoea, fever and other worse symptoms in children. The recalls extended to foods like salsa and guacamole.
Taylor Farms announced on Sunday that it had halted food produce supplies from a farm in Sinaloa, Mexico, suspected to be the source of the salmonella outbreak.
Walmart, Kroger, Whole Foods, Scarborough, Trader Joe’s and other supermarkets across 20 states have been impacted by the recalls, but Walmart said products containing jalapeño sourced from Taylor Farms have also been taken off the shelf.
This comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed an investigation into the salmonella outbreak which infected 345 people across more than 20 U.S. states earlier in the week.
Taylor’s previous suspension of sourcing iceberg lettuce over fears of cyclosporiasis outbreak did little to inspire confidence in their jalapeños supply.
Still, the company maintained that there was no confirmed case of cyclosporiasis linked to its Farms, neither was there any case of salmonella contamination directly connected to it.
