TCN announces seven-hour power outage in Kogi, Edo communities

TCN announced a seven-hour power outage in parts of Kogi and Edo on Tuesday due to annual maintenance at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta transmission substation.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a seven-hour power outage in parts of Kogi and Edo on Tuesday due to annual maintenance at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta transmission substation.

In a statement on Monday, the company said management will carry out the maintenance from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“The exercise will enable TCN’s crew to carry out preventive maintenance on the 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer,  associated switchgear and ancillary equipment in the substation,” it said.

The company said Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and environs during the maintenance period.

It also stated that Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company, West African Fertiliser Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo, Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara, Oka and environs.

“Power supply will be restored to the affected areas upon completion of the maintenance exercise,” the company said.
