TCN announces six-hour power disruption in Abuja, Niger

The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a six-hour power disruption in parts of Abuja and Niger on Tuesday.
In a statement on Monday, the company said the disruption is due to an annual preventive maintenance exercise on the 132kV Katampe-Gwarinpa Transmission Line 1.
The company further said it would carry out the maintenance at its 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The exercise will involve maintenance of the 132kV Katampe-Gwarinpa Transmission Line 1 bay switchgear and associated equipment.
Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to off-take electricity to its customers in several areas, TCN said.
The affected areas include parts of Dawaki, Dutse Alhaji, Gwarinpa and environs, as well as parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, Jiwa and environs.
Other affected areas include Suleja Township, the Federal Capital Territory College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba and environs.
The company apologised for the inconvenience the power disruption would cause to electricity customers in the affected areas.
