The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Lagos region, has inaugurated a new 300 megavolt ampere (MVA) power transformer at its 330/132/33 kilovolt (kV) Egbin Transmission Substation in Lagos.

Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s general manager of public affairs, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

Ms Mbah said the addition had increased the substation’s capacity from 300MVA to 450MVA.

”Thereby enhancing bulk power availability for Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) to off-take to its customers in Ikorodu, Shagamu, Ijede, and environs,” she said.

Speaking during the inauguration, Adeshina Adeonipekun, general manager (transmission), TCN, Lagos region, said the project was completed in-house by the company’s engineers in a record-breaking time of six weeks.

Mr Adeonipekun said the project aims to strengthen the transmission network and improve power delivery nationwide.
