Teenager nabbed for assaulting police officers

A teenager, Uwanu Emmanuel, on Wednesday appeared before a magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly assaulting police officers.
Mr Emmanuel, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of assault.
The police prosecutor, Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr Oriyomi alleged that the defendants assaulted Inspector Adepoju Adewunmi and injured him.
“The defendant and one other at large also assaulted one Sgt. Duduyegbe Olatunbosun, while performing his lawful duty,” he said.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 186 and 187(a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The chief magistrate, Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted the defendant N50,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till April 26 for a hearing.
