Everton beat Manchester United 1–0 as David Moyes’ 10 men secured a huge three points, handing the manager his first away victory at Old Trafford on his 18th attempt.

Monday night English Premier League football saw Manchester United host Everton in a crucial game for the home side, as the Red Devils boss marked one year in charge. It, however, ended with United’s five-game unbeaten run coming to an end, missing a golden chance to move into the league’s top five.

The game kicked off with the visitors firing on all cylinders, showing great intensity and flair, creating several chances early on. But minutes later, Idrissa Gueye was sent off for violent conduct following a heated argument where he slapped his teammate and Michael Keane, with the referee showing a straight red card without hesitation.

It was Gueye’s first red card in eight years and his second in the Premier League, also making him the first player to be sent off for an on-field altercation with a teammate in the league since 2008.

Despite going down to ten men, the Toffees struck the only goal of the game just before the half-hour mark, as Dewsbury-Hall produced a brilliant solo effort, beating two defenders before firing a powerful shot from 20 yards with the help of a clever setup from James Garner.

After the interval, Manchester United came out with more urgency in the second half, pushing bodies forward and dominating possession. Bruno Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee both came close, but Jordan Pickford produced two outstanding flying saves to keep Everton ahead.

Manchester United will look to regroup when they face Crystal Palace away on Sunday, and Everton can seek a third win in a row as they host Newcastle United.
