Terror-linked Pantami bags another award for continuing Ahmadu Bello’s agenda across Nigeria
Isa Pantami, Nigeria’s minister of communications and digital economy has been awarded yet another award for his contribution to steering the nation’s communication sector “in line with the legacy of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, (Sardauna of Sokoto).”
The latest award by an NGO, Sardauna Of Our Time (SOOT), was announced via the ministry of communications and digital economy’s Facebook page.
It follows similar gale of awards that has been bestowed upon Mr Pantami since his past connection with terrorist organisations, al-Queda and the Taliban came to light.
Peoples Gazette had revealed, in a series of reports, how Mr Pantami had declared his respect for terrorist organisations and even criticised then-federal government for killing his “Muslim brothers”, Boko Haram.
In June 2021 Mr pantami was awarded the most outstanding minister of the year 2021 by a tabloid, Elite Exclusive Magazine.
The ministry of communications and digital economy says the latest accolade SOOT is “in recognition of the minister’s outstanding contribution to the society in the Digital Economy Sector of Nigeria in line with the legacy of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, (Sardauna of Sokoto).”
Mr Bello, former premier of the northern region and conservative politician, pushed hard for the modernisation of Northern Nigeria and the unification of the diverse tribes in the region.
He also promoted the Northernisation Policy to emplace northerners in federal establishments such as public service, military and paramilitary.
The revered Fulani leader was alleged in an article to have said “The new nation called Nigeria should be an Estate of our great grandfather Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power.
“We use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future.”
