Three Ekiti residents in court over alleged assault, breach of peace

Three persons consisting Emmanuel Fache, 24, Oluwanifise Adejoke, 22 and a minor were on Thursday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged assault and fighting in a public place.
The defendants, whose addresses were not stated, are facing a four-count charge bordering on fighting in a public place, conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 11 at about 7:00 p.m. at Oke-Ori Omi Street, Ado-Ekiti.
Mr Oriyomi alleged that the defendants engaged in a fight in a public place.
He further alleged that the second defendant conspired to assault the third defendant by slapping her on the face.
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
He said the offences contravened Sections 67,181(1)(d) ,185 and 421 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021
The counsel to the defendants, Olayinka Opaleke, urged the court to grant the defendants bail with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until August 21, for hearing.(NAN)
