Afghan security operatives on Wednesday rescued an abducted pupil from the clutches of kidnappers in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province.
The provincial police spokesman, Asadullah Jamshidi, announced that the child was abducted while en route from home to school in Police District 7 of Kandahar city, the provincial capital.
Mr Jamshidi said the perpetrators later issued a substantial ransom demand for his release.
The official added that acting on intelligence about the kidnappers’ hideout, security forces carried out an operation, rescuing the child unharmed and apprehending the three suspected kidnappers.
The suspected kidnappers have been handed over to judicial authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
This marks the third reported case of kidnapping in Afghanistan in recent days.
