Three men arraigned over alleged shop breaking, theft of items worth N673,000

Three men were on Thursday arraigned before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court sitting at Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing Samsung AO9 Smart phone and other items valued at N673,000 belonging to another.
They are Mayowa Sadeeq, Wasiu Adelaja and Yinka Adeniran, who all pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing brought against them.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Ayeni, had told the court that the trio committed the offences on November 18, at Mokola area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Mr Ayeni alleged that the defendants connived to break the shop of one Taiwo Suleiman, to steal a cash of N28, 000, a gold chain valued N40, 000, and a wristwatch valued at N65, 000.
He also alleged that the defendant also stole a Samsung AO9 Smart phone, valued at N240,000, and some clothing materials worth N300,000 all belonging to Suleiman.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provision of Sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. ii Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Court’s President, S.M. Akintayo, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
Mrs Akintayo added that each of the sureties must show evidence of National Identification Number (NIN).
She adjourned the matter until January 26, 2026, for hearing.
