Three people killed in Lagos-Ibadan road crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command has confirmed that three persons died while one other was injured in an accident involving a Lexus and a Boxer bike along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, confirmed the accident in a statement by the vommand’s spokesperson, Odunsi Afolabi, in Abeokuta.

Mr Afolabi said the accident which nvolved eight male adults happened at about at 1.04 p.m. on Sunday at Oniworo area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He added that the crash involved a blue Lexus with registration no GGE 18 JV and a black Boxer bike with no registration number.

Mr Afolabi said that three persons lost their lives in the crash while one other sustained varying degrees of injury.

“The corpses of the victims have been taken to FOS morgue, Opara, while the survivors were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for treatment,” he said.

Mr Afolabi attributed the cause of the crash to speeding and a burst tyre.

He said that obstructions had been cleared by FRSC Ogunmakin Unit in order to restore traffic flow, adding that the vehicles were moved to the MTD Alapako Police Station for further investigation.

Mr Afolabi quoted the sector commander as sending his condolences to the families of deceased victims, and praying that God would grant them the fortitude to bear their losses.

He admonished motorists to strictly adhere to speed limits and ensure their tyres were in good condition before embarking on any journey.
