Three siblings drag relative to court over alleged defamation

Three siblings, Ibrahim Aliyu, Ladidi Ibrahim and Aisha Ibrahim, have dragged a relative, Aliyu Abdullahi, before a Shari’a Court sitting in Kaduna over alleged defamation of character.
The complainants, who spoke through their lawyer, A. S. Ibrahim, said the defendant had been telling people that they accused him of adultery.
The counsel added that Mr Abdullahi kept telling people that the complainants also accused him of committing adultery with a married woman.
He added that the defendant had earlier filed a complaint against the three complainants on November 12, 2025 over defamation of character.
According to him, the case which was filed at Shari’a court ll, Magajin Gar, lasted for months without reasonable evidence.
He explained that Mr Abdullahi later stopped attending court proceedings due to his inability to present a witness as evidence for the accusations.
“Due to his absence the case was dismissed on July 22, but he continued spreading accusations, trying to tarnish their reputation.
“For this reason, my clients had to file a complaint to protect their reputation; we pray the court will do justice,” he said.
The defendant, through his counsel, M.K. Mustapha, denied the allegations.
The judge, Yakubu Abdullahi, asked if the complainants have any witnesses and they answered affirmatively.
The judge adjourned the case to November 4 for the complainants to present their witnesses.
