Three suspected carjackers arrested in Lagos, weapons recovered

The Lagos State police command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious armed robbery and carjacking in the Alakuko area of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi.
She said three locally made pistols and eight live ammunition were recovered during the arrest.
She stated that the suspects, identified as Faruk Rasheed, ‘m,’20 years; Olamilekan Ademola, ‘m,’ 28 years; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, ‘m,’ 21 years, were tracked down and arrested.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables,” she said.
She stated that a search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
Ms Adebisi said that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
The state Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.
He also encouraged members of the public to report emergencies and suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
