Three suspected robbers arrested in Oyo
The Oyo State police command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a firearm and ammunition during an operation in the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan.
In a statement on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence on their activities.
“Acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of suspected armed robbers operating from a hideout within the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan,” he said.
Mr Olayinka said operatives of the command’s Monitoring Unit carried out a coordinated raid on the identified apartment in the early hours of Monday.
The suspects were identified as Tomiwa Ayomide, 28; Haruna Kabiru, 32; and Haruna Hassan, also known as “Malo,” 32.
“A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of one single-barrel locally made cut-to-size gun and seven cartridges,” Mr Olayinka said.
He added that the suspects are in police custody while investigations continue to determine their involvement in other criminal activities and to identify and apprehend other possible accomplices.
